3D Mink Lashes, Fake lashes Are Going To Light Up The Beauty Market
There’s very little in life I love better than inventions that started out as fun and then turned into something great. That’s exactly what happened with Tien Pham and Davey Taylor, creators of F.Lash, an LED eyelash that lights up your eyes in every color of the rainbow. The lashes, which apply with regular lash adhesive are also surprise, surprise, reusable. You can change the colors as you go through the night on the controller. Start out with white, switch to blue, jazz it up with pink or go surreal with green. It’s completely up to you. What’s even cooler? The lashes come with 5 light programs. The first is called Liquid Pour, which makes the lights flow in whatever direction you tilt your head. Twilight Sparkle creates random patterns of light, Endless Winks alternates blinking between eyes, Knight Riding creates side to side scrolling, and Hyper Burst does just what you’d think, it lights up your eyes in a jumping motion. Amazingly, the light emitted, while appearing strong to others, is barely noticeable to the wearer and does not impair vision. The lights are powered by a tiny battery that lasts four hours and is completely safe. A quick trip to their website demonstrates that the lashes look great on both men and women. Truly this pair has thought of everything, the lashes are even waterproof!
It’s been, ahem…a long time since I’ve dressed up my eyes (New York clubbing days) and even longer since I’ve batted them at anyone (don’t worry, I’m happy), but these supercharged lashes make me want to grab a pair. They’re perfect for getting that cute boy or girl to look up from their iPhone to see you and a perfect conversation starter for those who have lost the art of conversation altogether. I picture a conversation something like “Hey there, nice eyes, where’d you get them?” “I was born with them.” “What?” And then you gaze deeply at each other, no other words needed because you can just watch the light play. The first time I saw the lashes they made me think of Harijuku girls, drag queens and club kids, but then I realized they are actually quite beautiful and very flattering so I may just grab a pair and try them out. For those looking to go the costume route, they have an eyelashes private label too.
F.LASH is something of a Maker Faire, fairytale. Tien and Davey were two makers who worked for an electronics company who wanted to make a cool Halloween outfit. Tien saw Davey working with eyelashes private label and asked if there was a way to incorporate them into his outfit, maybe even on his face. They decided to make LED lashes and the rest was history…almost. Every entrepreneur knows that bringing an invention to market is an ongoing process. You don’t just kiss your investor and voila, Happily Cash Flow After! Don’t we wish? Still their rapid success through a Kickstarter campaign is impressive.
Tien used his lunch breaks to work on the design. When they made a video of Tien wearing the lashes at the San Mateo Maker Faire and it went viral…twice, with over 60 million views on various channels, they knew they were on to something. The problem was one that many entrepreneurs face. They were working full time and didn’t really have the funds to get it off the ground. It would have to become their side hustle. So, they brought the eyelashes private label lashes to a Maker’s Faire and launched a Kickstart campaign from there with the goal to raise 40K The campaign closed July 21, 2017 and they’ve now raised over 100,000. When asked about the response to their products, Tien said he was “awestruck by the response.” He and Davey both see F.Lash as just the beginning and have now launched their website eyelashes private label. “It’s a leap of faith,” Tien says, that has him “tumbling between ecstatic and a nervous wreck. Haha…”
Spoken like a true entrepreneur. Expect big beauty companies like L’oreal to come knocking soo.
